You must be thinking what is AMOLED and what is so good about it? AMOLED is short for Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode which provides sharper and more brilliant colours, improving the viewing quality and enabling efficient energy consumption.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q. Does Samsung OMNIA II support Chinese?

A. Samsung OMNIA II does support Chinese, limited to just viewing at this current moment. We hope to introduce Chinese input in the next software upgrade. So stay tuned!  If you can’t wait, the option is to download 3rd party software. Before doing this, please bear in mind that Samsung will not provide any technical support for 3rd party software and that installation should be done at your own risk.

Monster Chinese and CE Star seem to work pretty well as noted from the forums.

Q. I wish to block off data connection on my OMNIA II. How do I do it?

A. Do check that all your connections are OFF to ensure that there are no unwanted data connections running in the background. If you wish to block off data connection entirely, you would need to download 3rd party software MoDaCo NoData.

A. Yes, you can. Just follow the steps in the video.

Disable TouchWiz UI

Steps to disable TouchWiz UI

Go to ‘Start’ > ‘Settings’ > Go to ‘Today’ > Select ‘Windows Mobile Green’ > Click on ‘Items’ > Un-check ‘Samsung Widgets Plus’ > Select the applications that you wish to display on the Main Home Screen > Click ok > Yes to reboot Personally, I do prefer to use the Touch Wiz UI. It really allows me to do a lot of customization. For example, I can customize my favourite programmes or features on the menu or on the idle screen.

TouchWiz UI

The part I like about Samsung TouchWiz UI in OMNIA II is that it allows me to download widgets. I can use the Widget Wap Gallery (More Widgets) to download games and applications.

*Please note that there are operator-specific widgets which are pre-loaded into your OMNIA II when you purchase it from SingTel, M1 and StarHub.

For example:

M1 customers will get HungryGoWhere widget, which is a restaurant guide that will fulfill your taste buds by finding the hottest food places in town!

Singtel customers will get inSing.com, a one-stop destination that provides all the essential day-to-day information as well as comprehensive up-to-date coverage on local, international and entertainment news, events listings, food reviews and shopping deals

Starhub customers will get StarHub TV on Mobile. Starhub TV on Mobile brings your TV viewing experience onto your mobile phone anytime anywhere watching your favourite soccer matches, movies and many more.

You can see a full listing of the local operator widgets at www.yourwidgetworld.com/sg.

You can also download 3rd party widgets such as GameLoft. GameLoft Widget is designed to give you the latest mobile gaming updates, top quality games with over 200 titles to choose from.

You can also use PointUI “Home 2” if you want to try out different kind of User Interface. It’s free.
